Six States to Experience Blackout Due to Grid Maintenance – TCN
The Transmission Company of Nigeria says ongoing grid maintenance will affect power supply to six states across the country.
In a statement issued by its General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, the company said the development was due to the “extension of maintenance work on the Jos-Bauchi-Gombe 330kV line.”
The statement said, “The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) wishes to inform the public of an extension to the scheduled outage on the Jos-Bauchi-Gombe 330kV Single Circuit transmission line, to enable the completion of Optic Fibre and Ground Wire, OPGW stringing.
“The maintenance work, which held from Thursday to Sunday from 9:00am to 6:00pm from 9th April 2026, continued from 23rd May and is expected to end by the 30th of June 2026, within the same time frame. The extension is to enable contractors to complete the OPGW stringing along the 276km Jos-Bauchi-Gombe line axis.
“During this period, customers of Yola Distribution Company, YEDC, and Jos Distribution Company, JEDC, residing in Bauchi, Gombe, Damaturu and Maiduguri will experience limited supply from 9:00am to 6:00pm, Thursdays to Sundays only.
“Yola, Jalingo and surrounding areas will remain out of supply during the outage window. Power will be fully restored at the end of each day’s work in all areas.
“We understand the impact of the outage on electricity customers affected by this. We are therefore working assiduously to ensure that work is completed as indicated. On completion, the project will improve grid monitoring, operations and efficiency.”
