Hybrid Motors, Artnovation to unveil ‘Bridge of Motion’ linking art, EVs and renewable energy in Milan

Nigerian electric vehicle company Hybrid Motors Nigeria Limited and art platform Artnovation are set to unveil The Bridge of Motion, an artistic project exploring the intersection of electric mobility, renewable energy, technology, and sustainable development in Milan, Italy.

The unveiling will take place on September 16, 2026, at the opening of Echoes of Renaissance in the Hues of Africa, which will run from September 17 to 29.

The project is the 17th instalment of Artnovation’s Thread of Continents series, which uses art to explore the evolving relationship between Africa and Europe. The latest work shifts the focus towards mobility, renewable energy, and technological innovation.

According to the partners, the number 17 was deliberately chosen to reference the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, linking the artwork to broader conversations around sustainability and inclusive development.

Artnovation’s Chief Curator, Foluke Michael, said the project goes beyond showcasing a vehicle, using art to explore what mobility could represent when creativity, renewable energy, and innovation come together.

For Hybrid Motors, the collaboration is an opportunity to showcase a different vision for sustainable mobility in West Africa and to explore stronger technical, institutional, and commercial partnerships with European organisations.

The company’s founder, Jubril Arogundade, described the Milan unveiling as the beginning of a potential Africa-Europe conversation around sustainable mobility and innovation.

The initiative also aligns with areas of the European Union’s Global Gateway strategy, particularly sustainable transport and renewable energy. Discussions around the project are reportedly exploring opportunities involving European technology and expertise, institutional partnerships, and sustainable financing.

The collaboration builds on AfroItalian Renaissance, an initiative launched in December 2025 in partnership with the Italian Consulate General in Lagos to strengthen cultural and creative exchanges between Africa and Italy.

With The Bridge of Motion, a Nigerian-led mobility company is bringing electric vehicles, renewable energy, and African creativity into the same international conversation, showing how art can become a platform for discussing the future of transportation and sustainable development.
