Go Solar, as National Grid Collapses Yet Again!

Go Solar, as National Grid Collapses Yet Again!

The country experienced a nationwide blackout this morning after the national grid collapsed.

The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) confirmed the incident via its official X handle on September 10, 2025.

According to the company, the incident, which began at 11:23 a.m., was caused by a sudden loss of supply from the national grid.

“Please be informed that the power outage currently being experienced is due to a loss of supply from the national grid at 11:23 am today, affecting electricity supply across our franchise areas,” the statement read.

This latest grid failure once again brings to the fore decades-long challenges rocking the nation’s electricity sector, with no clear solution in sight. The tweet below from StartArchiving tells it all.

The Way Forward

The persistent grid collapse is detrimental to the nation’s economic growth and harms homes, schools and businesses. Hence, there is a need for individuals, organisations and government agencies to seek alternative energy sources. Solar systems have proven to be not only reliable but also cost-effective. They provide clean, safe and consistent electricity that keeps organisations running at optimum capacity with no harm to the environment.
