The Borno State Government has launched a mega solar-powered electric vehicle (EV) charging station. The facility, backed by the North East Development Commission (NEDC), is the first of its kind in the region. It’s also one of seven mega charging stations under development across the state, signalling a giant step toward electric mobility and cleaner energy.
The facility, which reportedly charges up to 20 vehicles simultaneously, powers the state’s fleet of electric taxis — launched in 2023 — that charge just N100 per passenger to any destination within Maiduguri.
