Adamawa Embraces E-Mobility, Launches 1,000 Electric Tricycles

The Adamawa state government has launched its electric mobility initiative, announcing its plan to procure 1,000 electric tricycles for distribution to youths at subsidised rates. Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, who disclosed this on Monday at Mahmud Ribadu Square in Jimeta, said this was a major shift toward clean and affordable transportation. Fintiri added that the initiative was part of deliberate efforts to reduce overdependence on Premium Motor Spirit (petrol), cut transportation costs, and improve the livelihoods of residents.

The government stated that it went into partnership with private sector players, including Sparrow Mobility Limited, and it is already delivering results, with locally assembled electric tricycles now creating jobs and boosting industrial activity in the state.

Fintiri further disclosed that over 6,000 households across various local government areas have already benefited from solar energy installations, reinforcing the state’s commitment to renewable energy and sustainable development.

Speaking at the launch, the Commissioner for Transport Development, Wunfe Anthony, described the initiative as revolutionary and said it will significantly reduce operational costs for tricycle operators while easing transportation challenges.

Delivering a keynote address, the Group Chief Executive Officer of A4&T Company, Ayodeji Ademilua, revealed that his team conducted an assessment visit to Adamawa in May 2025, which led to the partnership with the state government. He noted that electric tricycles represent a pathway to sustainability, affordability, and long-term economic growth, while commending Governor Fintiri for fostering an investor-friendly environment.
