State House Budgets N10bn For Solar Power

In a bid to reduce its recurrent electricity cost, the Presidency has allocated the sum of N10bn in the 2025 approved budget for the installation of a solar mini-grid at the Presidential Villa, The PUNCH reports.
The planned solar project, titled “Solarisation of the Villa with Solar Mini Grid,” is expected to reduce the presidency’s dependence on the national grid and limit the impact of tariff hikes on government finances.
The Villa’s decision to transition to a solar-powered grid is seen not only as a cost-saving and energy-efficient move but one that aligns with its broader sustainability goals.
Nigerians have raised eyebrow about the Presidency’s decision, which many term as escapist and a clear sign of government ineptitude to revive the nation’s power sector.
