All On Invests $5m in PowerGen to Expand Renewable Energy Access

All On has invested $5 million in PowerGen Renewable Energy Nigeria to support the expansion of renewable electricity infrastructure across underserved communities and businesses in Nigeria.

The investment, provided through a mezzanine facility, will help PowerGen develop isolated and interconnected mini-grid projects for households, commercial customers and industrial users with limited or unreliable access to electricity.

The funding is expected to support up to 6,000 new electricity connections, provide up to 9MW of generation capacity and reach an estimated 41,000 beneficiaries. The projects are also projected to create about 470 jobs across the communities and businesses they serve.

The investment also completes the Series C capital raise of PowerGen’s parent company, WindGen Power USA, alongside funding from ElectriFI, Impact Fund Denmark, the Sustainable Energy Fund for Africa (SEFA) and InfraCo.

For Nigeria, the development highlights the growing role of private investment in expanding electricity access beyond the traditional grid. By scaling mini-grids in areas where grid supply remains limited or unreliable, PowerGen’s expansion could give more households and businesses access to cleaner and more dependable electricity.
