Nigeria, South Korea Partner On Solar, EVs

The Federal government is set to enter into a partnership agreement with South Korea on solar and eletric vehicles technology.

Thus was disclosed by Vice-President, Kashim Shettima when he receiveda delegation from South Korea’s Asia Economic Development Committee (AEDC) led by its Chairman, Yoon Suk-hun, who paid him a courtesy visit at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The proposed partnership is focused on solar technology, electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing, and advanced information technology for national security enhancement.

He pointed out that Nigeria was open to technology transfer agreements as well as the establishment of local industries for solar equipment production and electric vehicle assembly.

He stressed the administration’s commitment to enabling a favourable environment for private enterprise.

“This government aims to be a facilitator for businesses to flourish in Nigeria,” Vice-President Shettima stated.

“We will ensure a safe and conducive setting for private ventures like yours to thrive,” he said.

Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media & Communications (Office of the Vice-President), quoted Mr Yoon, in a statement, as saying that the AEDC’s interest in Nigeria goes beyond profit. According to him, the visit aims to explore investment opportunities in solar power, EV production, and IT infrastructure to support national security.

Mr Yoon emphasised that the partnership was intended to promote technology transfer and capacity building in critical sectors.

Also present at the meeting were Alhaji Mustapha Muhammad, Founder and Chairman of AMMASCO Group; alongside AEDC representatives Shin Kyeong-seub, Kim Se Hun, and Yang Jin Won.
